BoardMatch Marin

BoardMatch supports nonprofits that are in need of board members. Potential board candidates are matched with nonprofits based on the candidate’s interests and background relative to the particular needs of nonprofit boards.

 

The Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership is dedicated to strengthening nonprofit boards of directors in Marin. The BoardMatch Marin program’s mission is to help Marin’s nonprofits develop and maintain strong boards of directors that will work with internal staff to ensure the organizations are successful in achieving their missions. Currently, BoardMatch Marin is the only board referral program in the Bay Area that offers individual guidance and support from coordinators.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Be a Member of the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership
- You must have Directors and Officers (D&O) insurance coverage for your board members
- You must have a regular schedule of board meetings
Board Development Workshops

Board 101 – Fundamentals of nonprofit Board Membership for individuals interested in learning more about board service before joining a board or are new to board service.

 

Board 201 – In depth information on board roles and responsibilities and the difference between board and staff functions. Includes practical tips on how to more effectively serve your agency and examples of forms and formats to adapt to your own board's needs.

 

Strategic Board Recruitment - The basics of effective board recruitment designed for board members and executive directors based on the same strategic recruitment techniques used by search professionals.

Board Coaching and Consulting

 

The Center offers consulting services on an hourly basis for Boards in need of meeting facilitation, assistance with strategic planning processes and/or retreats, procedures and policy creation or management, help resolving conflicts or governance issues, and Board Chair or Executive Director coaching.

 

In addition, a customized workshop can be developed and presented to an entire board at a location of its choosing. Areas covered include: Board Roles & Responsibilities, Ethics & Fiduciary Responsibility, Risk Management, Executive Director Evaluation, and Transition Planning.
