Nonprofit Landscape Study

This study, the first of its kind for Marin County, provides an in-depth and extensive exploration of the nonprofit sector – from its organizational profile and to its ability to weather economic fluctuations in the national economy, to its response to increased service demands and changes in funding.

It also provides baseline data for ongoing analysis of the sector. We have designed this study as forward-looking, insightful and effective as possible. Our hope is that the study will stimulate dialogue and suggest strategies between funders and nonprofits, and engage us all in meaningful collaborations and planning for the future.

We would like to thank our funders, Marin Community Foundation, County of Marin, United Way of the Bay Area, Autodesk and Citibank for their generous support of this study of the Marin nonprofit sector. We also extend our gratitude to all community leaders, nonprofit staff, board members and members of the public who shared their expertise and comments and contributed to the authenticity and significance of this report.
